Sherlock Sherlock
As you may know the new television series “Sherlock” is straight pimpin’ but something about it as a whole bugs me. Sherlock Holmes works and presumably Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as well don’t exist in the program. A world without those people, plot line, characters and above all that classic influence is strange. Regardless if you ever read or seen anything Sherlock Holmes related you probably still know who Sherlock Holmes is, or at least you do if you live in the western world. Frankly I could not imagine a world without that influence simply because it is so ingrained in western culture.
Reconstructing a world without Sherlock Holmes or something of the sort requires replacement or flat out reconstruction. Remember that Arnold Schwartzenager movie “Last Action Hero?” In the movie a boy magically goes into a movie and in That world Arnold Schwartzenager does not exist. In one scene there was a display in a video store for a Schwartzenager movie and instead of Schwartzenager being in the display it was Syvester Stallone. In this world Arnold Schwartzenager was simply replaced with other action stars, but that does not seem to be the story for the Sherlock television series. No reference to a replacement at all and if the series is based in Britain than the detective should have been referenced by now. So it’s a complete reconstruction.
I’ll be interested in seeing how this series develops in it’s none Conan canon.

I used to not be part of a fandom
I don’t think I’ve not been part of a fandom since I was about 10. Obviously I liked things before then, but I believe I was about 10 when I got the internet and found other people who were in fandom, started reading fics, looking at fanart etc.
